Anthony Andersonis getting candid on Safetyvaluean unusual health scare.

TheBlack-ishstar shared that he was diagnosed with gout—a form of arthritis—after eating too much shellfish while filming the 2007 show K-Ville in New Orleans.

“I was eating nothing but seafood and shellfish," he said on the April 28 episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, per People. "All the purine in the shellfish contributed to my buildup of uric acid and—I'll never forget—I was in the scene, and I went to kick a door in. And I hit it. And I said, 'I think I broke my toe.'"

Some shellfish contains the chemical compound purine, which creates uric acid when it's broken down in the body, per the Mayo Clinic. High levels of uric acid can cause crystals to form in the bloodstream, which can lead to gout.

For Anderson, 54, his condition worsened after he hit his toe on set.
